A multi-disciplinary designer, Afifeh Abou Chaar is currently working on her Master of Arts in Interior and Spatial Design at the University of the Arts London, Chelsea College of Art and Design [October 2015 - September 2016]. Having graduated from the American University of Beirut with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design with a minor in Studio Arts, Afifeh has always been interested in art, design, science and technology. Pursuing her master’s degree has helped her to combine between her passion for art and design and her passion for science and technology. She believes that designers are inventors and thus should be involved in science and technology while maintaining the authenticity of design.
Attending UAL has developed many of her handcraft skills, as she has had to work in different workshops [wood | Metal | Plaster and model Making] to create her designs. Coming from a graphic design background, these workshops helped her to develop a 3D visualizing skill as well as to understand how different materials and elements function together through the construction of her work structures.
Afifeh is a designer who merged two of her passions in order to find herself and establish herself as a designer, always keeping an eye out for new things to get inspired by, learn from and add to her design library.
